Ranking movement is measured against your day-one baseline positions for the priority keywords listed in your written engagement agreement. Specific target movement is spelled out in the agreement — usually "average position improvement of X positions across the priority keyword set" or "at least 3 priority keywords enter top 10" — with the exact target calibrated to your competition level.
We do it together during the onboarding week. You bring the keywords that drive revenue. We add keywords surfaced by our audit (striking-distance opportunities in your GSC, competitor-ranking gaps, geo-modified variants). The final priority list is 10-25 keywords depending on tier, mutually agreed and documented in the engagement agreement before signing.
You still qualify for the guarantee, prorated to what was delivered. If you cancel at day 45 and half the priority keywords haven't moved, you receive a refund for the value of the guaranteed movement that wasn't delivered. The formula is stipulated in the agreement — no surprises.
Algorithm updates happen roughly every 6-8 weeks and are part of the industry — the guarantee accounts for this.
